Her interest in medicine and healthcare led her to help part-time at St. Agnes Hospital pharmacy for several years while attending summer school at Marian College and, ultimately, to complete her bachelors degree in pharmacy. Over the years which followed, Sister Patricia took numerous theology courses and earned an MA in Theology from Manhattan College, Bronx, New York. For more than 30 years, she continued to support her alma mater, assuming various staff and volunteer positions, including assistant administrator, guidance counselor, alumni director and assistant in the archives. Preceding Sister Nancy in death were her parents and her brother, Burton Dale Derhammer, Jr. in Fond du Lac and a Baking Certificate from New York Restaurant School where she took classes in culinary arts. Sister Clare entered St. Agnes Convent in 1937 and made her first profession of vows on August 15, 1942. She believed that these family experiences nurtured her vocation and prepared her for life in religious community.
